# OpenAI Dots changelog: release date and what changed

OpenAI released dots on 29 September 2026. A dated timeline of every change since: the rollout, plan and usage changes, and the dates already set.

Dots launched on 29 September 2026, at OpenAI's DevDay. Every dated change since is on the timeline below, with the dates still ahead.

**In short**

- **Released:** 29 September 2026, to ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium, with Enterprise as a beta an admin turns on.
- **Next dates:** 29 and 30 October 2026, when the lower Pro 200 allowance reaches earlier subscribers.
- **For the first month after launch,** dot usage doesn't count toward your plan's allowance.

### What changed, and when

Every dated change to dots since launch, and the dates already set. Pick your plan to see only what touches you.

1. 29 September 2026
   **Dots launch**
   OpenAI releases dots at DevDay. A dot comes with ChatGPT Pro and with a Business Premium seat, and Enterprise workspaces get it as a beta their admin turns on. Pro doesn't include a dot in the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the UK. Each person gets one dot.
2. 29 September 2026
   **Rollout starts with Pro 500 and Pro 200**
   The first accounts to see **Your dot** in the sidebar are on the two higher Pro tiers.
3. 29 September 2026
   **First month: dot usage doesn't count toward your plan**
   For the first month after launch, what your dot does isn't counted against your plan's allowance. Tasks it starts in Work or Codex count as usual.
4. 29 September 2026
   **Pro 500 arrives**
   A new Pro tier at $500 a month, and the only one with Astra Ultrafast. It includes one dot, like the other two.
5. 29 September 2026
   **Pro 200 reopens with a lower allowance**
   New Pro 200 subscriptions get a lower usage allowance than before, at the same $200 a month.
6. 30 September 2026
   **Rollout reaches Pro 100 and Business Premium**
   Dots are out to every Pro tier and to Business Premium seats. A Business workspace can still wait several days for its turn.
7. 29 October 2026
   **Last day of the old Pro 200 allowance**
   If you had Pro 200 at any point from 22 September to 10 a.m. Pacific Time on 29 September, and kept it, you keep the earlier allowance through this day.
8. 30 October 2026
   **The lower Pro 200 allowance applies to everyone**
   Those earlier Pro 200 subscriptions move to the lower allowance. The price stays $200 a month.
